ABOUT US:

The Busy Buttons CORE Charity is a local independent inclusive registered charity based in Windsor. The CORE stands for Creativity, Opportunity, Respect and Empowerment and these values are central to everything we do. We deliver inclusive art programmes for the local community and beyond. Busy Buttons is changing the lives of hundreds of individuals and families, especially for those young people with special educational needs, behavioural issues, anxiety and feelings of isolation.

YOUR ROLE WILL INVOLVE:

Support the Manager and team to deliver the charity’s Alternative Provision, holiday programme. The programmes are inclusive and welcomes children from all walks of life, including children with special educational needs (we call them super powers) and young people facing barriers in mainstream settings.

Main duties include:

·       Assist with preparing and delivering activities within a safe and caring environment.

·       Providing comprehensive care for the children

·       Setting up, moving furniture / equipment, tidying away for the various programmes and events when needed.

·       Providing refreshments and ensuring that hygiene, health and safety standards are met.

·       Consulting with children and involving them in planning activities.

·       Helping with holiday programme administration, where necessary.

·       Facilitating good communication with all members of the charity and families.

·       Undertaking appropriate and relevant training.

·       Keeping the work environment healthy, safe and secure.

·       Working within the framework of the charity’s policies and procedures.

·       Support children with additional needs (full training will be provided)

·       Raise awareness of the charity’s services.

·       Help in fundraising activities and support at community engagement events.

·       Represent the charity and it ethos respectfully.

·       Be responsible and work amicably with the management team.

 

Essential qualities

·       A desire to help young people find the best in themselves.

·       Willingness to learn about the varied needs of children and their families

·       Willingness to learn about the issues involved in the delivery of holiday activities for children

·       Understanding the issues of equal opportunities

·       Provide and facilitate safe and creative activities

·       Good communication skills

·       Able to work as part of a team

·       Sound judgement and common sense

·       Sufficient understanding and use of English to ensure the well-being of the children

 

Desirable qualities (but not necessary)

·       Experience of working with 5 to 15 year olds

·       Experience of working within a childcare setting

·       Experience of administration

·       Competent in using IT to support holiday programme administration

·       Ability to work on own initiative

·       Relevant qualification or willingness to work towards this

·       Appropriate child protection training

·       Current Paediatric First Aid Certificate

·       Food Hygiene Certificate
